Modified Air Jig

Although widely used for dry cleaning of raw coal, the air jig is largely ineffective in cleaning coal particles which are smaller than 6mm and its ineffectiveness in treating fine coal has limited its application.

EXPORTech has shown that the ¼ inch topsize fines collected in the baghouse of an Allair®-Jig (shown below) processing a 2 inch topsize North Dakota lignite at the rate of 50 TPH can be treated efficiently by dry magnetic methods to increase the overall Btu recovery from 78% to 91% without impacting the product ash level or pounds SO2 per million Btu. Use of the combined technologies (US Patent 7,367,456) improves the overall coal cleaning performance. This technology has the potential to make a significant reduction in the volume of coal needed at the point of use, thus lessening the problems of transportation bottlenecks in evolving markets for coal combustion and gasification products.
